this is Proof jet owners don't get along. If they stopped worrying about others and started worrying about themSELVES for a change, the jet community would actually have some clout!... rather than be the starving and whining vague 'association' it is now.

Lets try and turn this post around. How about some pictures and a race report how it did. From the few pictures on the tracks website it looked cool, but I would expect nothing less from KC.

I dont think he had to be certified for the "night of fire" it is a charity event. The drivers do the event for half price. That is the real shame in the jet community. When there is always the guy or gal who will not think twice about sticking a fellow "entertainer" in the back and do the job for half of the price. But then use the excuse of doing what it takes to get ahead. Well news flash, you all will keep falling farther behind if you dont stick together on some things, like money. The price of the show will keep falling and the price to get to the show will keep going up. People need to be worried about what everyone else is doing so they know what to get away with. I was thinking very seriously of getting back into jet racing, but the people have changed, and the price believe it or not has gone down from twenty years ago. If you can argue the point then you are ignorant to life, good luck with yours.

Give it a rest guys, you won't find a nicer guy out there running the jets, who would help you if he could. K.C, you don't owe anyone an explaination about anything. Mike

If people just had the guts to stand their ground on price this could be a profitable business. Just how do you buy a new truck, stacker trailer and second car and find a way to survive on half price bookings? My advice to anyone interested in jets is to establish yourself in a profitable business and run a car on a hobby basis.

The fact of the matter is, if you have a car that a promoter wants to hire, they will pay you what you want to get. On the other hand, if your car is the same as all the rest, (not faster, not unique, only has one engine, doesn't have colored smoke, you name it, there are lots of ways to be unique) then the promoters not going to pay you more than he can get the other guys for, that put the same number of butts in the stands.

Having said that, where do we live and work? In the United States? What happened to a free market? If I can run my car cheaper than you, and that is what I feel like I have to do to get the number of dates I want to run, then who are you to **** at me for it?

It's all business. Be better than the rest in some way, make more money. Or just be the same, and discount yourself, then make it up on volume.

Of course theres the last option - just sit around and **** and moan about everyone else.

Sure it is a free market system but does that mean that we should run for the same money we got 10-15 years ago? Ticket prices have gone up, concession prices have gone up and our costs have really gone up. With fuel prices going through the ceiling, etc. I don't think it is asking too much that we have the opportunity to make a decent living. Of course if someone is happy traveling thousands of miles, running on bad tracks and receiving very little compensation for their time then so be it.

Using the "run cheap and make up for it in volume" approach does not work. All you end up with at the end of the year is worn out equipment. Also colored smoke is not allowed anymore since the Lynn Redeman fiasco of years ago.

I was just using the colored smoke as an example of some of the things that have been done to make an act unique.

If tracks want to hire cars that run for "the same as 20 years ago", then their going to get what they pay for most of the time. If they are happy with what they get, then business-wise, it wouldn't make sense for them to hire someone that charges more. If the "racer" is happy getting the money he's getting, why should he charge any more? Because you want to make more money? WHO CARES?

20 years ago, most guys were getting around 1600. I can't believe anyone is still running for that.
It has also been my experience that the guys ****in the most about cheap prices, were always the first to cut their prices. A lot of the time, guys that can't book dates at any price, blame it on someone else running cheaper. How do you know how much someone else is getting paid?

I'll bet "Franklin" has no trouble getting bookings, and he can charge whatever he wants, and get it. You see...... that's proof that if you live in your own dream world, everthing seems to have a way of working out.

Have a good night guys.

It cost everyone the same to get to the race, fuel food motels ect ect, and doing volume is going to cost you more, and at the end of the season, look at your bottom line. At $2500 per race doing 35 + races a year, you'll be lucky to break even, if you don't break anything. Of course the more you do, the better your odds of breaking something. One hot end replaced, so long profit if there even was one. I'd rather do one race a year for $3500+, than 30 for $2500 or less.

R.S. If you want to know what everyone is getting paid, just ask the track owners. They will be more than glad to tell you.
